COSHH Risk Assessment
Book NowLegislation
Using chemicals or other hazardous substances at work can put people's health at risk, so the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations (COSHH) 2002, (as amended) were produced to control exposure to hazardous substances and to prevent ill health.
If you as an employer fail to adequately control hazardous substances, your employees or others may become ill. Effects from hazardous substances range from mild eye irritation to chronic lung disease or, on occasions, death.
The regulations require employers to follow eight steps:
- Assess the risks to health from hazardous substances used in or created by your workplace activities
- Decide what precautions are needed
- Prevent or adequately control exposure
- Ensure that control measures are used and maintained
- Monitor the exposure
- Carry out appropriate health surveillance
- Prepare plans and procedures to deal with accidents, incidents and emergencies
- Ensure employees are properly informed, trained and supervised
Methodology
Workplace Fire & Safety Ltd will undertake a detailed assessment of your substances that are hazardous to health.
The assessment will outline, with recommendations, what should be implemented to ensure compliance with the legislation.
